SVPVV Samstha’s Shri Veer Pulikeshi Rural Ayurvedic Medical College, Hospital & Research Center, Badami, hosted a significant guest lecture as part of the World Elephant Day, organized by department of Dravyaguna Vigyan. The event was held on 30 th August 2025 (Saturday) at 3:00 Pm in the Vagbhata Auditorium.
The event was graced by our guests Dr.Jagadesh G Mitti, Dr. B. M. Mulkipatil (Principal), Dr. Girish N. Danappagoudar (Vice Principal) and Dr. S. B. Nidagundi (Academic Dean).
The lecture was delivered by Dr.Jagadesh G Mitti, Professor & HOD ,Department of PG & Ph.D studies in RSBK ,JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru. on the topic “Recent developments in Pharmacovigilence in Ayurveda Practice” aimed at exploring the integration of modern research with traditional Ayurvedic practices to develop novel solutions in the field of healthcare.
Key Highlights of Lecture
- Establishment and Expansion of the National Pharmacovigilance Program for ASU&H Drugs:
The Ministry of AYUSH has strengthened the Pharmacovigilance Programme for Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) systems to monitor and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs). A multi-tiered network including National, Regional, and Peripheral centers has been established to ensure safe and effective use of Ayurvedic medicines. - Digital Tools and Reporting Systems:
Recent developments include the introduction of digital platforms like 'Ayush Suraksha' and ADR monitoring apps to simplify the reporting of adverse events by practitioners, pharmacists, and patients. These tools aim to improve transparency, encourage spontaneous reporting, and build a centralized ADR database. - Training, Awareness, and Integration with Modern Practices:
Increased focus is being placed on capacity building and sensitization of Ayurvedic practitioners and students regarding pharmacovigilance. Workshops, CME programs, and updated guidelines have been introduced to align traditional Ayurvedic practice with modern safety monitoring protocols, ensuring patient safety and global credibility.
The guest lecture highlighted the importance of Pharmacovigilence in Ayurveda Practice.
Dr. S. B. Nidagundi expressed gratitude to Dr.Jagadesh G Mitti for his enlightening session and to all dignitaries, faculty, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
