Acharya Sushruta Jayanti Celebrated with Guest Lecture on Surgical Innovations

The Department of Shalya Tantra, under the guidance of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a special academic program to commemorate Acharya Sushruta Jayanti on 15th July 2026 at the Vagbhat Auditorium. The event celebrated the invaluable contributions of Acharya Sushruta, revered as the Father of Surgery, and highlighted the enduring relevance of his surgical principles in modern healthcare. The program brought together faculty members, students, and staff in an atmosphere of academic excellence and reverence for India’s rich Ayurvedic heritage.

The keynote session featured Dr. Chandrasekhar Neeralagi, MBBS, MS (General Surgery), Neeralagi Multispeciality Hospital, Badami, as the Chief Guest. He delivered an insightful lecture on "Integration of Ancient Wisdom with Contemporary Surgical Innovations," emphasizing the scientific foundations of Sushruta's surgical techniques and their continued influence on present-day surgical practice. His address inspired students to appreciate the harmonious integration of traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern medical advancements.

The program was presided over by Dr. B. M. Mulkipatil, Principal, in the presence of Dr. Shashikant B. Nidagundi, Academic Dean. The event was coordinated by Dr. Amareshappa B. M., Associate Professor & HOD, Department of Shalya Tantra, with the support of Dr. Basavaraj Jambagi, Assistant Professor. Faculty members, interns, and BAMS students actively participated in the session, making it an enriching academic experience for all attendees.
