12th International Day of Yoga 2026 Celebration

The Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Shri Veer Pulikeshi Rural Ayurvedic Medical College, Hospital & Research Center, Badami, enthusiastically celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 with a series of programmes aimed at promoting holistic health, wellness, and the importance of yoga in daily life. The celebrations were organized in accordance with the global theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing the role of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, and healthy longevity.

As a prelude to the International Day of Yoga celebrations, the institution inaugurated “Yoga Taranga,” a 10-day Yoga Training Programme for students on 10 June 2026. The training programme was designed to create awareness about the scientific and therapeutic benefits of yoga and to encourage students to adopt yoga as a regular lifestyle practice. During the programme, participants were trained in various yogasanas, pranayama techniques, meditation practices, relaxation methods, and yogic principles for health promotion and disease prevention. The sessions received enthusiastic participation from students across different academic years.

On 21 June 2026, a special outreach programme was organized at Shakambhari Vidyaniketana, Cholachagudda, where yoga experts from the college conducted a comprehensive yoga session for school students and staff members. The programme focused on creating awareness regarding the importance of yoga in improving concentration, reducing stress, enhancing physical fitness, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among young learners. The participants actively engaged in the practical demonstrations and appreciated the significance of integrating yoga into their daily routine.

The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Basavaraj M. Mulkipatil, Principal, and in the gracious presence of Dr. Shashikant B. Nidagundi, Academic Dean. The yoga sessions were effectively led by Dr. Deepak Hadagali, Assistant Professor, Department of Samhita & Siddhanta, who highlighted the role of yoga in promoting healthy ageing and enhancing overall quality of life. The event was further supported by Dr. Mangalavva B. Patil, Professor and Head, Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, and Dr. Arya Anil, Assistant Professor, whose efforts contributed significantly to the successful organization of the programme.

Yoga Will Relax Mind

The celebration witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, administrative staff, and members of the governing council. The event served as an excellent platform to spread awareness about the preventive, promotive, and therapeutic aspects of yoga and reinforced the institution’s commitment to preserving and promoting India’s traditional systems of health and wellness.
